The tenth episode of MOVIOCRITY is upon us and for the show’s last installment of 2013, we indulge in a time-honored tradition – the Christmas episode! But while most shows fill you with feelings of peace on Earth and goodwill towards men, MOVIOCRITY is interested in touching another part of your anatomy.
To wit, MOVIOCRITY looks at the 1972 film, SANTA AND THE ICE CREAM BUNNY. Easily the weirdest holiday film I have seen so far (It got a mention in last year’s article, “20 Non-Traditional Christmas Films You Must See Before You Die.”), this is a shameless low-budget film, done in conjunction with Florida amusement parks and designed to be shown as a weekend matinée at theatres unable to sneak in an 11AM showing of DEEP THROAT.
Thrill to the off-key music! See Santa’s downsized child labor! Watch an old man get stuck in the sand but never leave his sleigh! Marvel at the zoophilic children! Cheer as the Ice Cream Bunny saves the day with its unsettling wink! Stare in disbelief when they shoehorn another whole full-length film in the middle of everything else!
In other words, Happy Holidays from MOVIOCRITY. Thanks for sticking with us through our first year. And as always… ADVENTURE WITHOUT SHAME!!!
