It’s a film that is sure to get the attention of indie film lovers and very lonely middle-aged men. SPRING BREAKERS looks to shatter some of the squeaky clean images of a few former child stars who are all grown up.
Selena Gomez (MONTE CARLO, WITCHES OF WAVERLY PLACE), Vanessa Hudgens (SUCKER PUNCH, BANDSLAM, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL), Ashley Benson (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS) and Rachel Korine (wife of the director) all star in this film about of bunch of bored youngsters who go the extra mile for their youthful rite of passage.
According to the trailer, spring break is the ultimate escape, spoken in hushed tones. Lacking funds for their journey, these four kids rob a restaurant to get the money. Unfortunately, they get busted but are soon broken out of jail by a drug dealer named Alien (James Franco). Alien takes them further and further into an extreme lifestyle with the promise that they can have spring break forever.
Controversial director Harmony Korine (TRASH HUMPERS, JULIEN DONKEY-BOY, GUMMO) directs this one. So, expect things to get very surreal and very anti-Disney.
This film was actually filmed in my neck of the woods – shooting in Clearwater, Sarasota and other areas around the Tampa Bay area. Moreover, it at least looks prettier than the misguided color tinting of MAGIC MIKE’s exterior shots.
We have two trailers below – the brand new U.S. trailer and the international trailer that has been quietly making the rounds for a while. Never let it be said Film Geek Central doesn’t give you something extra.
